Ella Doucet is the recipient of the Paterson Garden Club's 20th annual scholarship at Patterson High School. She's shown accepting the scholarship from club President Ginger Griffin. Doucet is the Patterson High Student of the Year for 2023-24 and graduated last week with a 4.0 grade point average. She will attend Nicholls State University with plans to become a neonatal nurse.
Louisiana man accused in Ponzi scheme with fictitious E-trade account; deputies seek victims.
A Belle Rose man told friends he was investing their money in the market through E-Trade but was really running a Ponzi scheme, Assumption Parish sheriff's deputies said. Deputies arrested John Michael Thibodeaux, 44, on Friday after a five-month investigation following a complaint filed by his victims. Sheriff's office spokesman Lonny Cavalier said authorities have received calls from other potential victims as well and are still calculating how much money was involved.

A Terrebonne Parish teen was ruthlessly burned by her mother after she told her mother how her mother's fiance sexually abused her. The fiance later shot her on two separate occasions. Thibodaux couple charged with attempted murder in ‘gruesome’ crime involving a teen
A Thibodaux couple has been charged with attempted murder and other charges in connection with an investigation into crimes committed against a teen. Terrebonne Parish Tim Soignet held a press conference this week, announcing that Latonya Anna Harris, 40, and Terrence Washington, 41, both of Thibodaux, were arrested and charged in a series of violent offenses in connection with the investigation.
