Shelby custom cabinet company debuts at High Point Market
A Shelby-based luxury custom cabinet maker is making a name for itself on a national stage and is debuting at a prestigious home furnishings trade show this weekend. The High Point Market, the world's largest home furnishings trade show, attracts around 70,000 attendees and this year, it will be showcasing some of Walker Woodworking's products. "This is new to us, this is our debut," said Sierra McLaughlin, marketing manager. "We've never been to High Point before." She said there aren't many cabinet companies at the show, and it opens the door for cabinets to be considered furniture and a part of the interior design world. "For Walker Woodworking, it's kind of bridging that gap between designers and cabinet manufacturers and building partnerships with them. It's about partnerships and relationships with the interior design world." McLaughlin said people attend the show from all over, not just nationally, but internationally. "It's an honor to be part of the show," she said. McLaughlin said there is a fee to showcase, but also an application process that has to be undergone. She said Walker Woodworking has been working on the project for months, with design and construction taking place well before the show starts.
