Bessemer City man killed in wreck
A Bessemer City man was killed in a wreck near Dallas on Monday, N.C. Highway Patrol said. James Madison Smarr, 62, was driving a white Ford pickup truck on Pruett's Chapel Road when he veered left of center, ran off the road and struck a tree, said Trooper Adam Rogers. He was pronounced dead on the way to the hospital. Smarr was wearing his seatbelt.
