DMV Warns Drivers About Drowsy Driving Because of Upcoming Time Change

ALBANY, N.Y. (WKTV) -- As daylight saving time ends, drivers face higher risks on the road from drowsy driving. The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee shared this reminder, pointing to 2025 data from the Institute for Traffic Safety and Management that shows 3,371 police-reported crashes in New York involved fatigue or drivers falling asleep. Six of those crashes involved a fatality, and 1,284 resulted in personal injury.
