Corn bears aren't real in Iowa , but rats certainly are. The pest control company Orkin has unveiled its list of the rattiest cities in America , and an Iowa city made the list for the first time. Aw, rats! Which Iowa city has the worst rat infestations? This is the first time Cedar Rapids has made it into the top 50 worst cities for rats, landing at 36th on the list. Rats love making homes in and around buildings, beneath vegetation and anywhere they can find protection from predators and the elements, the report said. Cities provide the prime resources for them to thrive. “There’s no single type of city or climate that’s immune to rodent pressure,” said Dr. Shannon Sked, National Technical Director at Orkin. Cedar Rapids also made Orkin's list for the cities with the worst bed bug infestations in July.
