Hello and welcome to this week's issue of the Delaware Dispatch. Happy Halloween to those who celebrate! While many families around Columbus are preparing to go trick-or-treating tonight, most of Delaware County is going out on Halloween. (As someone not originally from Ohio, I've found it bizarre to go trick-or-treating on a night that's not Oct. 31. If anyone knows why Delaware seems to consistently go out on Halloween, let me know at awinfrey@dispatch.com). That being said, we are commemorating Halloween today at the Columbus Dispatch office, since most of us aren't working Saturday. I've come as a Bene Gesserit from "Dune." New mass timber residential building set to begin leasing for the 2027-28 academic year

At the corner of Ninth Avenue and High Street, a new apartment complex is likely to set some records when it starts leasing for the 2027-28 school year. The 242,000-square-foot, 186-unit student housing building will become the first mass timber structure in Columbus, bringing a design focused on sustainability into the University District. It’s expected to hold a height record of 158 feet and 13 stories for mass timber student housing, Marguerite Munoz, a project spokesperson, said in an email.
