HCA Florida Healthcare breaks ground on new Gainesville hospital near Archer Road and I-75

HCA Florida Healthcare broke ground Thursday morning on a new $231 million hospital and medical office building off Archer Road near Interstate 75 in Gainesville.

The hospital, which will be called HCA Florida Gainesville Hospital, will be built over the next 18 months at the site of the recently opened HCA Florida Gainesville Emergency Room, 2026 at 4094 SW 41 ^st Blvd.

“We are proud to have served thousands of patients across the greater Gainesville area over the past 50 years,” said Brian Cook, president of HCA Healthcare North Florida Division. “Today, we take another positive step forward in our commitment to expanding access to high-quality care in the rapidly growing North Central Florida region. The addition of HCA Florida Gainesville Hospital will help to ensure we continue to meet the increasing need for acute care services in the communities we serve and provide convenient continuity of care in one location for our patients and their families.”

The new hospital will build upon the existing HCA Florida Gainesville Emergency Room and include a surgical services department, a catheterization lab, 60 medical/surgical beds, a 30-bed in-patient rehabilitation unit and a full complement of imaging services. The hospital is anticipated to house more than 200 employees, including physicians, other health care professionals and support personnel.

“The new HCA Florida Gainesville Hospital is a huge win for our community, both in terms of expanded access to state-of-the art medical treatment and a positive economic impact on our growing area,” said Eric Godet, president and CEO of the Greater Gainesville Chamber and board member of HCA Florida North Florida Hospital. “We’re excited by the new jobs this major project will bring and look forward to additional business growth in the area as a result.”
