COCOA, FL. — When Jayvan Boggs committed to Ohio State last year, Florida was right on the Buckeyes’ tail. It was an extremely close battle due to how much he was being prioritized by both schools.

Now, it’s Georgia and Missouri pushed the hardest for the Cocoa (Fla.) wide receiver’s commitment.

Boggs, according to the On3 Industry Ranking , is a 4-star prospect and the No. 211 prospect overall.

“I have a good four that stands out,” Boggs told GO’s Keith Niebuhr at school on Tuesday. “It’s Missouri, Georgia, Texas and UCF.”

Many thought the Gators would be difficult to beat this second time around. What happened?

“Nothing really happened,” Boggs replied. “They stayed in touch with me, but a lot of other schools were heavy hitters. Other schools got me on heavier than what they did. They’re still high in my recruitment. I put them in top seven, so they’re really up there in my recruitment.”

Boggs could rearrange his official visit schedule

As it stands today, Boggs’ summer official visit schedule is pretty much set.

UCF will roll out the red carpet on May 31, followed by USC on June 7. Georgia (June 14) and Missouri (June 21) close out the month, but that trip to Los Angeles could get canceled due to the Longhorns’ recent surge in Boggs’ recruitment.

That puts the Gators in a difficult spot, especially with Boggs hoping to decide before the season; however, the 4-star prospect says there is a “high chance” they receive one.

“I haven’t really decided yet because I have my officials kind of set right now; I have four set right now,” Boggs told Gators Online when asked about UF receiving one. “I want to squeeze them in for sure, so I’m trying to figure out the whole timeline and maybe get one in during the season. I don’t know yet.”

Florida must dial it up a notch

If all goes as planned, Boggs will meet with the Gators in May regardless.

“(Wide receivers) coach (Billy) Gonzales told me he was going to come see me this spring; he just hasn’t gave me an official date,” said Boggs. “I talk to him a good amount. It’s probably every other day or every week. I talk to him a good amount.”

With constant communication in place, how can the Gators make a much-needed leap in his recruitment?

“They’re really doing everything they need to do. I would say recruit me harder,” Boggs said of UF.
