Amsterdam man gets up to 11 years in prison for robbing two ice cream shops
An Amsterdam man was sentenced Friday to up to 11 years in prison for robbing two Saratoga County ice cream shops. Daniel P. McKay, 41, had previously admitted that on Sept. 3, he entered both the Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Shop in downtown Saratoga Springs and the Stewart’s Shops in Malta just off the Northway. McKay implied he had a weapon and demanded cash from the register, the Saratoga County District Attorneys’ Office said. McKay did not actually have a weapon.

Court agrees to hear Schoharie limo operator’s appeal of manslaughter conviction
An appeals court has agreed to hear the case of a man convicted of manslaughter in the 2018 Schoharie limo crash that killed 20 people. Nauman Hussain was found guilty in May 2023 and sentenced to 5 to 15 years in prison for allowing the Ford Excursion stretch limousine to remain on the road – despite knowing that it was in bad condition. The brakes needed to be redone, and the vehicle had not been inspected.
Canajoharie man charged with sale and possession of illegal firearms and ammunition
CANAJOHARIE, NY (WRGB) — A Montgomery County man faces felony charges, accused of selling and possessing illegal firearms and ammunition. The arrest followed an investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the Fort Plain Police Department and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
