Amsterdam woman killed in one-car Thruway crash
CATSKILL – An evening car crash on the northbound Thruway in the Town of Catskill has claimed the life of a 66-year-old Amsterdam woman, State Police report. The driver, Regina Levine, was driving between the Saugerties and Catskill exits at around 6:40 p.m. on April 19 when for an unknown reason, her 2004 Ford Escape, traveling in the passing lane, ran off the road, went through a guiderail, struck an earth embankment and overturned.
Amsterdam man admits to distributing crack
An Amsterdam has pleaded guilty on Tuesday to distributing crack cocaine in the Amsterdam area. Angelo Dalmau, 54, admitted in U.S. District Court that he stole about 250 grams of crack on five occasions between September 2021 and March 2022. He also told the court that he sent $149,500 in drug proceeds to another person in order to launder the funds from his drug trafficking operation, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
Schoharie limo operator wants appeal fast-tracked by court
The man convicted of manslaughter in the 2018 Schoharie limo crash that killed 20 people is asking that an appeals court give his case priority. Nauman Hussain was found guilty in May 2023 and sentenced to 5 to 15 years in prison for allowing the Ford Excursion stretch limousine to remain on the road – despite knowing that it was in bad condition. The brakes needed to be redone, and the vehicle had not been inspected.

GLENVILLE, N.Y. (WRGB) — Lights aimed at alerting drivers to the low Maple Ave bridge in Glenville are creating headaches for some residents nearby. Two very bright lights have been put up by Schenectady County to illuminate the bridge at night so drivers are able to see it clearly.
