An Amsterdam man pleaded guilty to a drug trafficking conspiracy involving fentanyl pills, cocaine, and methamphetamine, as well as selling fentanyl pills and using a firearm during a drug trafficking crime. Samuel Payano, 24, pleaded guilty on Friday.

Sewer main break closes portion of Amsterdam's Church St.
Amsterdam, NY (WRGB) — Those traveling on Church Street in Amsterdam will need to plan for detours Monday night and Tuesday. Due to a sewer break on Church Street, the road will be closed from Gorski Street to Julia Street Monday, May 6, from 9 p.m. until 7 a.m. Tuesday, May 7 and again Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Amsterdam student struck by vehicle in school parking lot
Student struck by a car at Amsterdam middle school. An Amsterdam elementary student was injured on Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle in the school parking lot. Amsterdam Police received a report at 7:19 a.m. regarding a pedestrian struck in the lot of Wilbur H. Lynch Literacy Academy at 55 Brandt Place. She had an injury to one of her legs. She was treated on scene and transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam for further evaluation.
