The American Red Cross is helping four people after a Mayfield fire. The fire took place at a residence on Route 123. Three adults and a 5-year-old are receiving financial assistance for necessities such as shelter, food and blankets. They also received health services, blankets and comfort kits with personal care items including stuffed animals for the child.

BALLSTON SPA — The Ballston Spa Board of Education is scheduled to appoint Mr. Anders Rasmussen as the new Middle School Principal on May 8. Rasmussen, who has been with the district since 2012, has served as Principal of Wood Road Elementary School since 2018. Prior to his service in Ballston Spa schools, he held administrative positions at the Greenville School District, and he was an English teacher and coach at Ichabod Crane Middle School.

Student struck by a car at Amsterdam middle school. An Amsterdam elementary student was injured on Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle in the school parking lot. Amsterdam Police received a report at 7:19 a.m. regarding a pedestrian struck in the lot of Wilbur H. Lynch Literacy Academy at 55 Brandt Place. She had an injury to one of her legs. She was treated on scene and transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam for further evaluation.
