Report card: Santora picked up a pair of top-three finishes at the WPIAL track and field championships this week. She was the runner-up in the Class 2A 1,600-meter run (5 minutes, 16.16 seconds) and knocked nearly 2 seconds off her season best. She also placed third in the 3,200 (11:32.25), finishing more than 4 seconds better than her personal best. Santora, who was 47th at the PIAA cross country championships in the fall, also helped Knoch finish third at the WPIAL team championships earlier this spring.

The Kiski Area School District unveiled five restored tennis courts May 8 with a U.S. Open-style blue and green color palette. The courts are open to the public.

Hampton boys show calm before storm at WPIAL track and field championships
The WPIAL track and field championships started about as well as could be expected for the Hampton boys. In the meet’s opening event, the Talbots’ 3,200 relay team took second in Class 3A with a near-school record time and qualified for the PIAA championships before Mother Nature took over May 15 at Slippery Rock University.
Franklin Regional sends 2 runners to state track meet
Franklin Regional coach Bob Ralston joked that he can retire after his son Eryk qualified for the PIAA track and field championship on May 24-25. Eryk Ralston finished fourth in the Class 3A 400-meter dash in the WPIAL meet at Slippery Rock’s Mihalik-Thompson Stadium on May 15 to earn his spot at Shippensburg University.
