200 new homes coming after April land use decisions in Sussex County
About 200 new homes will be built in southern Delaware after three new subdivisions received approval at Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission meetings in April. In addition to the subdivisions, the commission approved an extension for Chappell Farms, an apartment and retail complex planned for Cave Neck Road and Coastal Highway in Milton, and a site plan for Long Neck Community Bank, where unmarked human remains were found days later.
Millsboro man arrested for assault, resisting arrest
LONG NECK, Del. – A Millsboro man is behind bars on multiple assault and resisting arrest charges following an incident early Sunday morning. Just after 5:30 a.m., troopers were called to a house in the 26000 block of Oak Forest Lane for a reported assault. They learned that a man, identified as 35-year-old Brandon Myers, had assaulted a woman at the house and left. A short time later, troopers found Myers on the property of a business in the 32000 block of Long Neck Road and tried to take him into custody, however, he physically resisted arrest. Myers then allegedly tried to take a trooper’s gun from the holster while they were arresting him.
Chincoteague Mare Passes Despite Lifesaving Efforts by Volunteers and Vets, Foal Safe
CHINCOTEAGUE, VA - The Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company had difficult news to share regarding one of their mares this week. According to the Fire Company, the stewards of the wild Chincoteague ponies, volunteers discovered a downed mare in the marsh of the South End of Assateague Island unable to stand on her own around 7 a.m. Wednesday. The Fire Company says the mare, who had a foal with her, presented classic symptoms of hypocalcemia, a calcium deficiency in the blood.

GEORGETOWN, Del.– Sussex Tech defeated Sussex Central in a final score of 7-0 on Thursday night. Tech and Central would be deadlocked at 0-0 throughout the first 4 innings. The Ravens would break it open in the 5th inning, they would load the bases with no outs. Kameron Tindley would break it open with a 2 run RBI double. Tech would go on to score 5 more runs off Osiah Kelley and Noah Burroughs.
Delaware State Police Investigating Friday Night Collision in Sussex County
MILLSBORO, DE - Delaware State Police are investigating a Friday night traffic collision that occurred in Sussex County. On Friday evening, Indian River Volunteer Fire Company responded to a vehicle accident on Bay Farm Road near School Lane in Millsboro, Delaware. The accident was reported as a single vehicle accident, but two vehicles were located at the scene with damage.
