BAKER MIDDLE SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD: Bulldogs compete at Grant Union, Hines
JOHN DAY — The Baker Middle School girls track and field team won the team title at the Grant Union Invitational on Saturday, May 4. The Baker boys placed third. Kate Norton set an eighth grade school record in winning the javelin throw with a toss of 93 feet, 9 inches. Norton, who swept the throwing events as she has in other meets this season, broke the record of 93 feet, 7 inches set by Trischa Franke in 2008.
PCHS Sophomore Sawyer Quinton is heading to state golf tournament

Grant Soil & Water Conservation District & employee earn state recognition
JOHN DAY \ SUNRIVER – Big news for our local conservation service agency. Grant Soil and Water Conservation employee Pat Holliday has been awarded the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in Oregon’s Employee Partnership Award at a recent conference in Sunriver. In addition, the NRCS presented their annual Partnership Award to the Grant Soil and Water Conservation District. The state recognition took place at the CONNECT+ conference April 16-18.
