Pesto, Pepperoni, and a Slice of Rogue Valley Flavor: A Midday Stop at Slice in Medford
A lunchtime drive to Medford recently turned into an unexpected highlight of the Rogue Valley food scene. The destination was Slice, a small but increasingly talked about pizza shop located inside the Rogue Valley Mall at 1600 North Riverside Avenue. While mall food courts are often associated with quick bites and predictable menus, this stop quickly proved that assumptions about mall dining do not always hold true.

March in Grants Pass has taken on a delicious new meaning for grilled cheese lovers, and my sixth stop on the Say Cheese Month journey led me straight to a longtime local favorite, The Depot Eatery at 577 NE F Street. Tucked into the historic downtown corridor, The Depot has built a reputation for dependable comfort food, welcoming service, and creative takes on classic dishes. On this visit, the kitchen once again proved that even something as simple as a grilled sandwich can become something memorable when thoughtful ingredients and a little imagination are involved.

At the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, 'Come From Away' finds humanity after tragedy
At its core, the Tony Award-winning musical “Come From Away” is a story about how communities respond to crisis with generosity and compassion. The production, opening March 14 at the Angus Bowmer Theatre in Ashland, tells the true story of 7,000 airline passengers stranded in Gander, Newfoundland, when 38 planes were diverted there after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. In the days that followed, residents of the small Canadian town housed and fed travelers from around the world.

Pear, Bacon and Brie: Ma Mosa’s Delivers a Standout Stop on the Say Cheese Trail
Say Cheese stop number four brought me to a place that, surprisingly, I had never visited before. Ma Mosa’s, located at 118 NE E Street in downtown Grants Pass, has long been considered one of the cornerstones of the local food scene. It is one of those restaurants people casually reference when they talk about downtown staples, the kind of place that has quietly built a loyal following over the years. Walking in for the first time during this month’s Say Cheese event felt a little like discovering something that had been hiding in plain sight.

Say Cheese Month Continues with a Sourdough Standout at Provolt Country Store
Day two of Say Cheese Month led me just outside the bustle of Grants Pass to a familiar roadside stop that many locals know well but sometimes overlook. Provolt Country Store, located at 14299 Highway 238, is the kind of place where country roads meet comfort food. This month, that comfort food carries a greater purpose. Each grilled cheese creation being served during Say Cheese Month helps support the Josephine County Food Bank, a vital community resource that provides food assistance to families across our region.
