This Unassuming Michigan Steakhouse Serves Old-School Angus Cuts And Serious Ribeyes

One owner hand-cuts somewhere between 1,500 and 2,000 steaks every single week. That is a lot of knife work before anyone even fires up the broiler. The family behind this place learned the craft the old-fashioned way. Their patriarch worked as a broiler man at Detroit’s famous London Chop House back in the 1960s. That kind of training still shows up on a modern dinner plate.

Dead or trapped pests found at Garden City eatery

Recent health inspections in some Garden City restaurants found accumulations of insects on insect traps and more between September and October, according to Wayne County Health Department inspection reports. Many of the violations have been corrected. The presence of violations in a past inspection does not necessarily mean the establishment has the same violations today. Inspection reports can be found at swordsolutions.com/inspections/. Below is a list of violations found at a few restaurants in Garden City. Great China Garden, 32293 Ford Road During a routine inspection on September 18, an inspector noted several problems at Great China Garden. ∎ Observed two bottles of powdered lye for floor drain cleaning near the dishwashing area. 5 Best Restaurants in Ann Arbor, Michigan You Need to Try Before Everyone Else Finds Them

Ann Arbor, Michigan — a city where the red-brick streets pulse with the footsteps of students and professors, where the Huron River winds through neighborhoods stitched with memory and hope, where murals bloom on alley walls and the scent of coffee, curry, and barbecue drifts through the air. Here, the architecture is a patchwork: Victorian homes with wraparound porches, glassy new towers, and the gentle sprawl of parks and gardens. Ann Arbor is a crossroads — of old-timers and new arrivals, of artists, engineers, and dreamers, of families who picnic on the Diag and musicians who busk beneath the sycamores.

More: Ralph Mahalak Jr. to be honored at Scouting dinner "There is a real need for this in my community," she wrote on the GoFundMe page. "If we can open in the next 6 to 9 months, this project could create about 15 to 20 full- and part-time positions." LaZette spent 10 years as a special education teacher, helping those with disabilities to learn job and life skills. When she moved to the Monroe area three years ago, she found that opportunities were scarce for her students. "So, I knew I wanted to do something, and I knew I wanted to do something that kind of stood out against the grain, and for some reason, pizza and beer just stuck in my head," she previously said. Part of the inspiration for the pizzeria were coffee shops

Abdul El-Sayed is for 'shawarma law'. Where to try his favorite, others

Michigan's senator-elect, Abdul El-Sayed, this week joked that he is for "shawarma" not "Sharia" law, when speaking to reporters this week. "Do not believe the people who say I'm for Sharia law, I'm for shawarma law," El-Sayed said at a campaign stop in Macomb County. The joke made light of those who are concerned that El-Sayed, the first Muslim ever elected to the U.S. Senate, will force all Americans to adhere to the religious concepts of Islam, an accusation he has denied. El-Sayed during the conversation then recommended Detroit-area shawarma shop Amo Samis , which operates several locations throughout southeast Michigan. "I want to explain what the tenets of shawarma law are. If you get a shawarma and it's got lettuce in it, it's not shawarma, it's just a sandwich. Someone has lied to you," El-Sayed said on the food. What makes for good shawarma? If you've already tried El-Sayed's favorite, here's a look at five other places to try to the food first created in Turkey. More: El-Sayed calls Vance habibi in victory speech. What does it mean? What is shawarma? Shawarma is a Middle Eastern dish made from thin slices of marinated meat — usually chicken, beef, lamb,
