Former MLB Player Makes Stunning Commitment to SEC Football Program

Longtime professional baseball player Monte Harrison is taking his talents to an entirely new sport.

On Tuesday, it was announced that Harrison has committed to play college football at the University of Arkansas.

Harrison is currently 28 years old and had initially committed to play college football at Nebraska way back in 2014.

Yet, after Harrison was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the second round of the 2014 MLB Draft, he ditched football and focused on professional baseball.

Harrison eventually made it to the major leagues, where he spent two seasons playing for the Miami Marlins and one for the Los Angeles Angels.

Harrison's best season with the Marlins came in 2020, when he hit .170 across 51 plate appearances in 32 games.

He also stole 6 bases that season.

Harrison's football stats during his senior season in high school show why Nebraska wanted him. He finished the year with 60 catches for 1,007 yards, 13 touchdowns, 198 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns and even threw 1 touchdown.

Even though Harrison is much older than a typical college player, he still has four years of NCAA eligibility.

So we might see Harrison catching passes in the SEC while he's in his thirties.
