I-80 Traffic Switch Begins November 9 in Jefferson County

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) reports an upcoming traffic switch on I-80 west in support of the I-80 North Fork Bridges Project in Jefferson County. The contractor will perform a major traffic switch starting at 7:00 AM on November 9, 2026. During this operation, I-80 west traffic will be shifted onto the new east bridge via a median crossover before being directed back onto existing west road. This traffic switch will facilitate demolition of the existing west bridge and construction of the new road and bridge over North Fork Redbank Creek.

Democrats made historic election gains across much of Pennsylvania and the country. They’re now set to control the commonwealth’s “trifecta” — meaning Pennsylvania’s governorship, state House and state Senate — for the first time in 33 years. Nationally, the Dems also took control of both the U.S. House and Senate. By the end of Tuesday night, some even labeled it a “ blue tsunami .” “I think it might’ve even exceeded my expectations,” Gov. Josh Shapiro, who also easily won reelection, told CBS on Wednesday morning . Centre County Dems’ Tuesday night party at Hyatt Place State College proved lively, with an energized crowd clapping along to blue gains announced on CNN. They applauded when Annie Andrews flipped a South Carolina Senate seat to blue for the first time in more than 20 years, and they undoubtedly celebrated when Kansas elected a Democratic U.S. senator for the first time since 1932.
