PODCAST: Reacting to ECU's draw in the Greenville Regional
East Carolina has learned its postseason fate. Selected as the No. 16 overall national seed and Greenville Regional host, the Pirates will welcome in No. 2 seed Wake Forest, 3 seed VCU, and fourth-seeded Evansville. The action gets underway on Friday at 1 p.m. when ECU takes on Evansville inside Clark-LeClair Stadium. VCU and Wake Forest will play the nightcap.

The holiday weekend will continue to feature hot and humid like air to move in, with a stray shower possible, but most will stay dry. Highs will be near 90° and heat heat index values in the mid 90s. Lows will be in the upper 60s to low 70s, with clouds moving in. Rain showers and storms will start to move in overnight and into Monday morning, then clouds start to move in again, with storms becoming scattered to widespread later in the day. Main concern for the storms will be gusty winds and hail up to a quarter to golf ball size. Monday’s highs will hold in the low 90s again, with heat index values in the mid to upper 90s. If you have plans to be out and about, make sure to take breaks and have water on standby. Also have sunscreen too, as the UV rays will be on the high side.

The Pirates' head coach, along with Trey Yesavage and Carter Cunningham, talked about the team hosting the Greenville Regional on Monday after the selection show. For the fifth time in the last six college baseball seasons, East Carolina is hosting an NCAA Regional. The Pirates learned Monday during an NCAA Selection Show watch party inside TowneBank Tower that it was named the No. 16 overall national seed, and would be hosting second-seeded Wake Forest, third-seeded VCU, and fourth-seeded Evansville. The Pirates went 43-15 during the season, winning the American Athletic Conference regular season title for a fifth straight season. ECU was somewhat of a controversial host, despite finishing with one of the best resumes in college baseball, as a result of the RPI which fell to 23 from 12 despite a 6-2 record across its final eight games.
