Man charged with wreck of stolen truck; passengers injured
A Randolph County man was arrested after he wrecked a stolen pickup truck near Greenville and fled the scene on foot, law enforcement said. Two passengers were injured. The State Highway Patrol said troopers responded about 1:39 p.m. on May 29 to the wreck on N.C. 33 near Staton House Road in northern Pitt County. A 2005 Chevrolet Colorado stolen from Asheboro had traveled off of the road and struck a rock and cement driveway. ...
Cyclist killed, driver charged in N.C. 33 crash
A motorist has been charged in the death of a cyclist she hit on N.C. 33 east of Greenville, the State Highway Patrol reported. Troopers responded at 7:16 p.m. Tuesday to the collision on N.C. 33 at Country Road, which is near Freedom Baptist Church northeast of Simpson, between Greenville and Grimesland. A spokesman said that the motorist, Kristen Loree Johnson of Washington, was westbound in a passenger car when she collided with a bicycle operated by Taylor Hathaway Cox of Grimesland. Cox died from injuries sustained in the collision while being transported to ECU Health Medical Center. Johnson has been charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle.
