During the last two weeks, the Freestone County Sheriff’s Office has been taking narcotics offenders off the streets.

Last Saturday, a traffic stop was conducted in the Fairfield area. During the stop, the FCSO deputy on the scene noticed that the driver of the vehicle was crushing up something in his hand that was falling in his lap and driver seat.

The Deputy then asked the subject to get out of the vehicle for further investigation and once doing so, the subject began resisting the Deputy. The Deputy was able to safely place the subject in custody and collect the crushed evidence from the driver’s seat.

The Deputy then completed his vehicle search where 6.37 grams of meth and 20 Xanax pills was located. The subject was arrested for two counts of possession of a controlled substance, one count of resisting arrest, and a count of tampering with evidence.

On May 7, an FCSO Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a defective light. Upon making contact with the occupants of the vehicle, male driver and female passenger, the Deputy detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

A vehicle search was conducted at that time and a loaded .38 special was located, more than one gram of meth in a clear baggie, and drug paraphernalia that contained more than 245 grams of liquid meth. Both subjects were charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance.
