Waynesboro softball starts slow, finishes fast against Spring Grove
After starting down 4-0, Waynesboro shelled out 19 straight runs to hop and skip to a 19-4 win on Friday. Emma Bradley powered Waynesboro with three hits and three RBIs while Lydia Shank piled on five RBIs on two hits. Alexis Thompson drove in an additional four runs on two hits with two runs scored. Alex Monk also recorded two of Waynesboro’s 15 total hits on the day while Riley Shetler struck out six.

Addison Gsell, Chambersburg softball steal win over State College
Down 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Chambersburg’s softball team piled on three runs to steal a 4-3 win against State College on Friday. Addison Gsell doubled on a line drive to right field, tying the game 3-3 with two runs pulled in on her equalizer. Gsell was able to work her way to third base and steal home for the difference-maker.
Mechanicsburg downs Gettysburg, remains undefeated behind pitcher James Markowitz, Jeff Lougee
James Markowitz was nearly unhittable through six innings Friday and Mechanicsburg teammate Jeff Lougee smacked three hits in a 7-3 decision over Gettysburg. Lougee went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Jager Nailor added two hits and two RBIs for the Wildcats (12-0-1), who outhit the Warriors 10-4.
ACAC’s annual “Tee It Up FORE the Arts” golf tournament is a rousing success
Golf and art enthusiasts came together on Thursday at The Links of Gettysburg to participate in the 9th annual Tee It Up FORE the Arts golf tournament, benefiting the Adams County Arts Council. A cool, sunny, beautiful day served as backdrop for a fun-filled celebration of golf, food, and community. The event was the Arts Council’s most successful tournament yet; 88 golfers on 22 teams competed for tournament prizes, and the event raised more than $20,000 to benefit the Arts Council’s programming and operations.
James Buchanan softball rumbles past Littlestown
James Buchanan’s softball team dropped four runs in the fourth inning to fuel a 7-2 win over Littlestown on Friday. Hannah Nagy went 3-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs for the Rockets while Madisyn Amsley also went 3-for-3 to go with two runs and an RBI. Carolina Shew and Hannah Florczak both collected a pair of hits apiece. Lilianna Wiley struck out four around five hits for the win.

Mechanicsburg softball shut out Gettysburg, 7-0 on Friday behind nine total hits from the Wildcats. Sam Rybacki powered Mechanicsburg at the plate by going 4-for-5 with three runs scored. She also earned the win in the circle with two strikeouts around three hits and a walk. Jada Lacy recorded two hits and Chelsey Heckert drove in a pair of runs.
