STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — After a few hours of deliberating, jurors assigned to the Shaheem Chavis murder trial returned a verdict Thursday in state Supreme Court, St. George. They found Chavis, 46, guilty of first-degree murder, second-degree attempted murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the 2022 slaying that played out inside 260 Park Hill Ave. in Clifton.

The National Weather Service issued a rip current statement at 3:39 a.m. on Friday in effect until 8 p.m. for Monmouth and Ocean counties.
