Eyewitness News spoke to residents in the area of East Walnut and Kentucky Avenue who say they were allowed in their homes but they did not have power. Firefighters were going door-to-door in the neighborhood but have since left.

CenterPoint officials tell eyewitness news a third party damaged a gas line at east Walnut and Denby Avenue, and workers shut off power to homes along Walnut as a precaution. Workers made repairs to the area and officials declared the area safe by 3:40 p.m..

CenterPoint says the line was a four-inch gas main.
