WBR Parish Schools giving away free meals every Friday in June
PORT ALLEN - A line of cars stretched down the road Friday morning, leading to Port Allen High School where free summer meal kits were being distributed to families. It's part of the school system's summer meals program, where children under 18 can receive a week's worth of food every Friday in the month of June. With this program, the school system is aiming to combat food insecurity.

Baker High boys basketball team receives state championship rings
BAKER CITY – At a ceremony at Baker High on the morning of Thursday, May 30, the boys basketball team received their 2024 OSAA 4A Boys Basketball State Championship rings. Baton Rouge student competes in 2024 Scripps National Spelling Bee
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A Baton Rouge student was one of five Louisiana students who competed in the 2024 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Maryland. The Scripps National Spelling Bee started in 1925 to promote literacy for students, according to the Scripps website. Hi-Tai Lu, a 14-year-old who will be attending Baton Rouge Magnet High School in the fall, represented East Baton Rouge.
