Livonia residents building back after severe weather
Livonia - Generators buzzed in Livonia on Tuesday as residents, neighbors and friends cleaned up damage and debris from Monday night’s storm. A month after heavy storms and tornadoes swept through southern Louisiana, Pointe Coupee Parish faced another round of heavy winds. This time the storm knocked down trees, powerlines, and blew roofs off of homes.
I-TEAM: Search at Impact Charter School tied to possible theft investigation
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A search warrant obtained by the WAFB I-TEAM details the execution of a search warrant at Impact Charter School in Baker earlier this week. In their warrant application, investigators wrote they were searching for any evidence of theft, illegal transmission of monetary funds, injuring public records, and filing false public records. The warrant was signed by 19th Judicial District Judge Eboni Johnson Rose.
PHOTOS: Truck destroyed after fire in Pointe Coupee Parish
JARREAU - A truck was destroyed Sunday after it caught fire in Jarreau. The Pointe Coupee Fire District 3 shared photos of the truck on fire and after it was put out. The vehicle was in the parking lot of Island Landing Bar and Grill, but it does not appear that the building was impacted.
NWS Confirms Tornados In Livonia, Southwest La. After Severe Weather Monday
The National Weather Service confirms that multiple tornados touched down in Louisiana this week as part of a deadly storm system. One plowed through the tiny town of Livonia, northwest of Baton Rouge. It was on the ground for about the length of a football field and has been classified as an EF-0.
Survey confirms one tornado, widespread straight-line winds in Capital Area during Monday night storms
LIVONIA - A National Weather Service (NWS) survey team determined an EF-0 tornado, estimated to have peak winds of around 85mph caused damage across portions of southern Pointe Coupee Parish. This tornado began just north of Thorpe Road along LA-78 around 6:43pm and moved north-northeast causing scattered tree and powerline damage as well as some structural damage to a few rooftops and aluminum buildings. The tornado concluded at 6:45pm further up LA-78 after about 1 mile on the ground.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Storms that slammed several Southern states added to the region’s recent string of weather-related destruction and death, including that of a Louisiana woman who was nine months pregnant. The woman was killed after Monday night’s storms knocked a tree into a home in West Baton Rouge Parish, officials said. Kristin Browning, 31, was nine months pregnant, and her unborn child did not survive. Browning’s husband and her 5-year-old daughter were also injured but were expected to survive.
