3 New York nursing homes ranked among nation's best for 2027

Three New York nursing homes have ranked among the best in the nation, according to Newsweek's annual rankings. NYC Health + Hospitals/Gouverneur Skilled Nursing Facility topped the list in the large-facility category, while two other New York facilities ranked first in their respective size categories in America's Best Nursing Homes 2027 . The list features 1,325 nursing homes nationwide and is intended to help older adults and their families evaluate long-term care options, according to Newsweek . The publication said it selected facilities based on performance data, recommendations from medical professionals, accreditations and resident satisfaction. Here are the New York facilities that ranked first in the large, mid-sized and small categories. NYC Health + Hospitals/Gouverneur Skilled Nursing Facility NYC Health + Hospitals/Gouverneur Skilled Nursing Facility , on Madison Street on Manhattan's Lower East Side, topped the large-facility category, which includes nursing homes with more than 150 beds, according to Newsweek. The facility offers long-term care, short-term rehabilitation, hospice care and palliative care, according to its website. It has 295 certified beds and accepts Medicare and Medicaid. The facility is part of NYC Health + Hospitals, which describes itself as the nation's largest municipal health care system, according to its website

A New Jersey-based medical group has presided over $950 million in shady Medicaid billing for home health care and adult day care services, an investigation by The Post reveals. One operation owned by Honor Health Network, the Broadway Respite and Home Care in Fair Lawn, has billed a staggering $157 million from Medicaid from 89,000 unique patients across a six-year period, according to federal spending data. Mikie Sherrill announced last month that she was putting together a working group to reform the health insurance plan for public employees once and for all, Texas billionaire Mark Cuban eagerly raised his hand, offering to help . The two exchanged messages on the social media site, X. Cuban, with 8.5 million followers, told her he was ready to tick people off. Sherrill, with 112,000 followers, told him she was done kicking the can down the road and wanted him on Team Jersey. Weeks later, their motivation is coming into focus. Both Sherrill and Cuban have railed against pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), a segment of the health care industry that is under scrutiny for its role in rising drug prices.
