Town to host blood drive with Blood Connection May 31

The town of Edenton will sponsor a blood drive in Town Council Chambers’ overflow room later this month to boost local blood supplies.

The blood drive, a partnership with The Blood Connection, will take place from noon until 5 p.m. on Friday, May 31. In addition to knowing they’ve done something good for their neighbors, donors will receive $50 in rewards from The Blood Connection.

“This is a great way to give back to our community and allow residents to support those in need with blood,” said Tyler Newman, Edenton’s public information officer. “You never know when you may need a vital blood transfusion to save your own life, so we encourage anyone who is able to consider making an appointment for May 31. We hope to see you there!”

Persons who have a fever or a productive cough, who don’t feel well, or who may be taking antibiotics should not donate, as should persons with sinus, throat, or lung infections. Otherwise, a donor should be able to give blood.
