The cornerstone of the Michigan State Spartans 2023 college football recruiting class rested firmly with four-star edge rusher Bai Jobe . However, after just one season, he’s on his way out of East Lansing and heading closer to home.

The Kansas Jayhawks received a massive jolt to their defense with a commitment from the coveted transfer target. While he played one season with the Spartans before entering the transfer portal in April, he was their highest-ranked recruit in the 2023 class.

Listed at 6-foot-3 215 lb., Jobe is ranked the No. 17 edge rusher and No. 125 overall in On3’s Transfer Portal Industry Rankings . Jobe was also ranked the No. 1 recruit in Oklahoma, the No. 10 edge rusher, and the No. 69 overall recruit in the 2023 college football recruiting class according to On3’s Industry Rankings .

Jobe raves about Leipold's culture and says it was a key factor in his decision.

“Man I like the culture, the coaching staff was good, they were real with me and I really like their scheme,” Jobe said to On3’s Steve Wiltfong . “Coach Leipold, they know what they’re doing. And the honesty, they were real with me. The last three portal guys are in the NFL, Austin Booker getting drafted makes a big difference.”

The addition of Jobe to the defense should allow the Jayhawks to create more pressure against Big 12 competition and further the meteoric rise of the program come this fall. Jobe joins Derrick Harmon and Simeon Barrow Jr. as the three former Spartan defensive linemen to commit elsewhere in the past week.
