Former Oregon State quarterback Aidan Chiles is already turning heads at Michigan State after a solid spring.

According to On3's Jesse Simonton , Chiles' stock is beginning to rise after his spring performance.

"Chiles was effectively handed the Spartans’ starting quarterback job the day he followed former Oregon State head coach Jonathan Smith to East Lansing," Simonton wrote. "The promising sophomore reportedly had a solid spring, though he was just ok in Michigan State’s final scrimmage."

Chiles saw action in nine games last season with the Beavers. He completed 68.6% of his passes for 309 passing yards, four passing touchdowns, and three rushing touchdowns.

Michigan State's offense struggled in 2023 and the addition of Chiles was one of the most important moves for new head coach Jonathan Smith. His ability to create plays with his arms and legs should add another dimension to the Spartans offense next season.

Michigan State has not qualified for a bowl game since 2021 against Pittsburgh. Jonathan Smith arrives in East Lansing after leading the Beavers to three consecutive bowl appearances, including a 10-win season in 2022.
