Elmwood-Murdock Falls in Tight Subdistrict D1-2 Title Battle at McCool Junction
McCOOL JUNCTION, NE - The McCool Junction Mustangs won the second half to take the Subdistrict D1-2 Title over Elmwood-Murdock, 49-41. The Knights & Mustangs were knotted at 22 at halftime before McJ took a narrow 35-30 lead into the fourth and held on for the win. Carson McDonald led the charge for the Mustangs with 18 points, while Mapieu Kouchinin had 15, and Bryson Plock dropped in eleven. The Knights got 17 from Aidan Schmidt, while Easton Miller hit for ten. McCool Junction has earned the 4-seed among the final 16 teams, and they'll host Riverside in the District D1-4 Final. Elmwood-Murdock nabbed the last wildcard spot and the 15-seed. The Knights will visit Johnson-Brock in the District D1-2 Final.

Adams, NE. -- Lincoln Lutheran, after beating Tri County on Tuesday, took down Freeman 46-43 Thursday to triumph through the Class C2-1 sub district in Adams. Disposition on seized horses, delayed until March in Gage County investigation
BEATRICE – What will happen to horses seized during an investigation into animal neglect last year, has been delayed a third time. Gage County District Judge Rick Schreiner granted a continuance in the hearing on disposition of the animals, in district court Tuesday. The horses seized last August from veterinary clinics in Pickrell and Beatrice have been in the care of a horse rescue organization near Crete, as the court case plays out.
Syracuse Rescue calls rising to nearly 1 per day
SYRACUSE - Syracuse rescue squad still in need of members. In January of 2024 the squad had 49 calls. This number has never happened said Chief Wilson. Wilson said the squad is stretched thin. With only 17 members we can run only three teams and we are always on call. In 2023 Syracuse Rescue Squad answered 363 calls.
