Syracuse Rescue calls rising to nearly 1 per day
SYRACUSE - Syracuse rescue squad still in need of members. In January of 2024 the squad had 49 calls. This number has never happened said Chief Wilson. Wilson said the squad is stretched thin. With only 17 members we can run only three teams and we are always on call. In 2023 Syracuse Rescue Squad answered 363 calls.

AUBURN, NE - The Auburn Bulldogs kept their streak of District Finals appearances alive with a solid 58-29 win over Wilber-Clatonia in the Subdistrict C1-1 Championship Game on Thursday. The Bulldogs held a 19-12 lead after the first frame and built it to a 29-20 advantage at the break. Auburn put it to double-digits through three quarters at 38-24, and they didn't let up in a 20-5 fourth frame. The host team hit seven treys and went 7/9 at the free throw line. Maverick Binder finished with 15 points, while Nixon Ligouri added eleven - all in the first half. Disposition on seized horses, delayed until March in Gage County investigation
BEATRICE – What will happen to horses seized during an investigation into animal neglect last year, has been delayed a third time. Gage County District Judge Rick Schreiner granted a continuance in the hearing on disposition of the animals, in district court Tuesday. The horses seized last August from veterinary clinics in Pickrell and Beatrice have been in the care of a horse rescue organization near Crete, as the court case plays out.

By unanimous vote Monday evening, the Nebraska City City Council approved Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce's request for a grant application for a two-phase renovation project across from the Steinhart Aquatic Center. Speaking on KMA's "Morning Line" program Tuesday morning, Nebraska City Mayor Bryan Bequette says supporters seek a $260,000 grant from the Steinhart Family Foundation for construction of a new shelter across from the pool.
