The first of what are expected to be at least three rounds of storms between late Thursday and Saturday at noon struck late Thursday night, knocking out power to 65,000 in the metro area, primarily in Jefferson Parish and Tangipahoa, according to Entergy's power map. Cleco showed over 9,000 customers without power in St. Tammany.
Deputies arrest man after argument leaves him with gunshot wound to foot
PIERRE PART - A man was arrested for simple battery after a search for items he believed to have been stolen led to him being shot in the foot. Jason Landry, 51, of Pierre Part reportedly went to a home in search of goods he believed to have been stolen from him. As he talked with the home's residents, an argument escalated.

GEISMAR - An 18-year-old was taken to Our Lady of the Lake after suffering a head injury, according to emergency officials. Officials were unable to provide the condition of the victim, but the victim was transported via AirMed. No other information is available at this time.

Prairieville Primary 5th Graders Dive Deep into Shark Week
Have you ever touched a shark? Fifth grade students at Prairieville Primary School can definitively answer “yes” to that question. Not only did they touch sharks, they researched sharks, dissected sharks and created humane traps to catch sharks. Students engaged in all of these activities thanks to an Ascension Fund Grant funded by Shell Chemical.
Coaches from East Ascension, Hahnville added to complete Prairieville staff
Hiring baseball and softball head coaches from other schools helped Prairieville complete its first coaching staff. The Hurricanes added East Ascension’s Kade Keowen as their baseball coach and Todd Schulz of Hahnville as softball coach ahead of the school's first year in existence. It will compete in Class 5A varsity sports.

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Thousands of people are without power in Louisiana as of 1:40 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14 after severe weather swept across the state. PRAIRIEVILLE - Residents in Prairieville spent Tuesday cleaning up the mess that Monday night's severe weather left behind. A tree split a home in half, generators are being used as the source of power and back-porches were ripped off. One family couldn't even make it to their home because of debris blocking the roadway.
