Dillon Road in Desert Hot Springs reopened this week, more than eight months after the storm Hilary damaged it and other major roads in the Coachella Valley.

It was the last of the streets damaged in Desert Hot Springs to open. North Indian Canyon Drive was up and running again on Friday .

The city is still working on construction on these roads and advises people to drive there with caution, said Daniel Porras, assistant city manager and city engineer.

It cost $9.45 million to make repairs on Dillon Road, North Indian Canyon Drive, Pierson Boulevard and Little Morongo Road. North Indian Canyon Drive was the most expensive at $4.9 million, followed by Dillon Road at $2 million and Little Morongo Road at $1.9 million. Pierson Boulevard cost $650,000.

Porras told The Desert Sun the Federal Highway Administration approved Desert Hot Springs for emergency federal reimbursement for most of the cost, and the procedure for getting it could take around one to four years.
