Man in critical condition after skate park shooting in Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa — Police are investigating after they say a man was shot at the Lauridsen Skate Park early Friday morning.

Sgt. Paul Parizek with the Des Moines Police Department said an officer downtown heard shots fired at 3:58 a.m. Around 4:15 a.m. a 20-year-old male with a gunshot wound arrived at a Des Moines hospital. He is in critical condition.

Investigators were able to determine the shooting happened at 901 2nd Ave., the Lauridsen Skatepark.

Sgt. Parizek said there’s no ongoing danger to the neighborhood from the incident.

More information is expected to be released by police later Friday.
