Derby teen gets 27 years for shooting death of Wichita man
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A Derby teen has been sentenced to 27.5 years for the shooting death of a 34-year-old Wichita man in 2023. District Judge Jeffery Goering sentenced 18-year-old Philip Walls on Friday to a total of 330 months in prison. In March, Walls pled guilty to 2nd-degree murder, attempted aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping.

Man charged in crash that killed Wichita woman is extradited from Colorado
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A 24-year-old man has been charged in connection to an east Wichita crash that killed an 82-year-old woman. Wichita police said Austin Hedges, of Greeley, Colorado, was charged April 18 with reckless involuntary manslaughter and arrested in his hometown the following day. He was extradited from Colorado and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on Tuesday.
