Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic was recently awarded the 2024 NBA MVP award. This stirred a controversial debate since many believed other stars like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luka Doncic deserved the trophy.

Jokic finally came out and spoke on winning the award, sharing an incredibly humble response to winning his third league MVP.

"To be honest. I liked last year when I didn't win it and we won a championship much better," said Jokic, via Sideline Sources on Instagram.

This truly shows Jokic's modest attitude with a team-first mentality. The Nuggets were able to go all the way in the 2023 season, winning the NBA title behind Jokic and company.

Jokic has never been a player that attempts to take over the spotlight. He's fine with basketball being his day job, and keeping the rest of his life private.

He's a generational player, but the bright lights don't benefit Jokic. Denver's star has one goal in mind each season, and that's to win an NBA championship.
