In some cases, a certain age group will dominate the scene in a given city and that happens to be the cases in several spots around Colorado.

In a recent data analysis, Money Geek sought to determine where these dominating age groups were located around the country, taking a look at the demographic make-up of homeowners in 320 major cities around the United States. By looking at four key population segments among local homeowners – under 25, 25 to 44, 45 to 64, and 65 and over – the company determined that people in different age groups may end up picking very different places to 'settle down.'

Here's a look at how the three cities in Colorado where a heavy concentration of a certain age group among local homeowners ranked:

Data for Denver revealed a very high portion of local homeowners between ages of 25 and 44. In the Mile High City, 49.5 percent of homeowners fall into this category, ranking as the sixth highest concentration of this age group nationwide.

Meanwhile, Boulder ranked 11th nationwide when it came to its concentration of 'under 25' homeowners, with this group making up 22.1 percent of local homeowners.

Pueblo ended up ranking 5th nationwide when it came to a concentration of homeowners age 65 and older, with this demographic making up 33.3 percent of homeowners in the area.

Oddly enough, the most expensive place to live among the three cities – Boulder – was noted for its high concentration of younger homeowners, with this age group generally having a lower net worth when compared to older adults.

Denver's high concentration of young adults is no surprise, with many in this demographic relocating to the Denver area in recent years.

Pueblo's favorability among the older '65 and up' age group also makes sense. Cost of living is lower here, allow retirement savings to stretch longer. Plus, there's plenty of water recreation nearby. Those looking to spend their golden years with plenty of time on a boat will be able to do it here.
