Bo Nix’s wife is “overjoyed” following what’s been a whirlwind week for the former Oregon quarterback, whom the Broncos selected 12th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Taking to Instagram over the weekend, Izzy Nix reflected on the couple’s NFL draft experience, which began Thursday when the 24-year-old Nix received a life-altering phone call from Denver brass.

“The day I met Bo, he told me about this God-sized dream of his. I will never stop praising the Lord for His faithfulness or have enough words to express how proud I am of you, Bo. Overjoyed and honored to join Broncos country!!!” Izzy exclaimed Saturday.

Izzy, who wed Nix in 2022, was by the quarterback’s side on draft night and joined him the following day in Denver, where he had his introductory press conference with the Broncos.

“I don’t want to just be a draft pick,” Nix said, according to the Broncos’ website . “I want to be able to show my improvements and show that I can do what [they] picked me to do, and that’s to go out there and help win games [and] do whatever I can to put his team in a better situation.”

Nix was the sixth quarterback selected in the first round of this year’s NFL draft.

The curious way Broncos locked in on Bo Nix with most ‘arrogant’ pick in the NFL Draft

The quarterback frenzy began with the Bears, who drafted Caleb Williams first overall, followed by the Commanders grabbing Jayden Daniels second and the Patriots landing Drake Maye at No. 3.

The Falcons stunned much of the NFL community by drafting Micahel Penix Jr. at No. 8 — less than two months after signing veteran Kirk Cousins to a $180 million deal — and the Vikings trading up to No. 10 for J.J. McCarthy.

Draft expert Todd McShay believes the Broncos reached in selecting Nix so high.

“I promise you, I’ve talked to … at least 10 guys in the league that are high-ranking evaluators and decision-makers in their organizations. Nobody else had a first-round grade on (Bo Nix),” McShay said Friday on “The Ryen Russillo Podcast.”

“But now he’s in Sean Payton’s system, and Sean loves him and they’re going to work together… I do think that he’s going to wind up being better in Denver than he would’ve been just about anywhere else in the league as a second-round pick. But my goodness, this is an arrogant pick.”

Nix, who had been linked to the Broncos entering last week’s NFL draft, began his collegiate career at Auburn in 2019 before transferring to Oregon ahead of the 2022 season.

Through 14 appearances in 2023, Nix threw for 4,508 yards, 45 touchdowns and three interceptions. He also tallied six rushing touchdowns.

With Nix entering a quarterback room that includes veteran Jarrett Stidham and former Jets quarterback Zach Wilson , he is ready to show the Broncos they made the right decision drafting him.

“[They] could’ve picked anybody else in this draft, and [they] chose me,” Nix said. “But with that comes great responsibility and one that I can’t take lightly and I won’t take for granted.”
