Three people were hospitalized after crash and one has died, SC cops say

One person was killed Wednesday in a crash at a Midlands intersection that left two other people hospitalized, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol . Roger Salley, a 55-year-old from Orangeburg, is the person who died, Orangeburg County Coroner Sean Fogle said. The two-vehicle collision happened at about 11:20 a.m. in Orangeburg County, said Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover of the Highway Patrol. A 2018 Ford F-150 pickup truck was driving east on U.S. 178 , while a 2011 Cadillac Escalade SUV was heading west on the road, according to Glover. At the intersection with Heartsfire Road the vehicles collided, Glover said. There were two people in the Cadillac SUV, and both were taken to an area hospital, according to Glover. That’s where Salley died of blunt force injuries suffered in the wreck, Fogle said. The Ford pickup driver also was hurt and taken to the hospital, according to Glover. Further information on the surviving victims’ conditions was not available. No other injuries were reported. There was no word if anyone involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt. Two people killed in crash that left three others hospitalized, SC cops say

Two people were recently killed in a crash that left three others hospitalized, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol . The three-vehicle collision happened in Greenville County Monday at about 5:25 a.m., said Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway. A 2010 Chevrolet Camaro was driving south on Old White Horse Road at high rate of speed, while both a 2024 Nissan Altima and a 2022 Ford F-150 pickup truck were heading north on the road, according to Ridgeway. Near the intersection with Keeler Mill Road the speeding Chevy crossed the center line and hit the driver’s side of the Nissan before crashing into the Ford, Ridgeway said. The Chevy then ran off the left side of the road where it crashed into a ditch and overturned, according to Ridgeway. The Ford also ran off the road, going off the right side, where the pickup crashed into a tree, Ridgeway said. There were three people in the Ford, and one of the passengers died at the scene, according to Ridgeway. The driver and another passenger were being taken to an area hospital, but the second passenger died en route to the Upstate medical facility, Ridgeway said. A law enforcement officer was off-duty when he saved his neighbors from a recent house fire , according to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources . “We commend SCDNR Law Enforcement Officer Will Sutton for his heroic actions that helped save the lives of two elderly neighbors ,” South Carolina DNR officials said Tuesday in a news release. The fire happened Oct. 24 in Sutton’s Anderson County neighborhood , according to the release. Sutton was home having dinner with his family, before night patrol, when his son told him that a neighboring house was on fire, South Carolina DNR said. Sutton immediately notified dispatch, requested emergency assistance then rushed to the burning home, according to the release. After forcing his way into the smoke-filled house, Sutton located one of the residents, whom he knew was bedridden, lifted her from her bed and carried her to safety across the street, South Carolina DNR said. Sutton went back into the burning home to rescue the other resident, who had escaped the flames before he had gone back inside in confusion, according to the release. The couple was not the only thing that Sutton was able to rescue from the burning home.
