Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame to induct five new members
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Five sports legends from around our community will be inducted into the Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame during a weekend of events, May 17-18. This year’s inductees are Connor Barth, Joe Browning, James Faison, Alley Hart and Sherri Tynes, according to the GWSHOF website.

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Our WWAY Student Athlete of the Week comes from Cape Fear Academy where she is accomplishing things at a very young age. 15-year-old Claire Furmidge is a freshman on Cape Fear Academy’s girls soccer team. On the field, she certainly has been taking care of business with 17 goals and 9 assists so far this season. She has been a pivotal part in the teams 18-1 record this season with playoffs currently underway. Furmidge also takes academics seriously and her favorite subject is math. When it comes to handling life on and off the field, Furmidge said one tip can really help.
