Mingo Central High School presented with Jennings Randolph award

DELBARTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Mingo Central High School was recognized on Tuesday for having been among a select few West Virginia schools to have earned the prestigious Jennings Randolph award for the school year.

Named for former United States Senator, Jennings Randolph, the award is presented each year by the West Virginia Secretary of State to high schools statewide which have registered at least 85% of their respective senior students to vote.

Students and staff were joined by West Virginia Secretary of State, Mac Warner and representative Lee Dean who presented the esteemed award.

Mingo Central High School, in a statement, commended several staff members for their efforts in bringing the development to fruition.

“We are thrilled to announce that Mingo Central High School has won the prestigious Jennings Randolph award for registering over 85% of our senior class to vote!,” said MCHS. “Huge shoutout to our incredible Social Studies department, especially Kevin Whitt and Corey Hatfield, and counselor Andrea Gilman for their outstanding leadership in this initiative.”

Mingo Central High Students and honorary Secretaries of State, Josiah Hatcher and Addison Bishop also received special recognition from the school, “for their dedication and commitment as honorary Secretary of States and student leaders in driving this effort forward.”

The school also issued thanks to Secretary Warner and Dean for their participation in the award presentation ceremony.

“A big thank you to West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner and Lee Dean for joining us to present this esteemed award,” wrote Mingo Central. “We are immensely proud of this achievement and the impact it has on our school and community!”
