Kearny County to use nearly $300K grant for new coffee and bakery shop in downtown Deerfield
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Kearny County will use nearly $300,000 grant for a new coffee and bakery shop in downtown Deerfield. Kansas Department of Commerce officials announced on Wednesday, June 5 that Kearny County was awarded $296,250 through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program for a new coffee and bakery shop. The Commercial Rehabilitation grant, along with $98,750 in local matching funds, will help restore an older building and revitalize downtown Deerfield in Kearny County.

Amarillo community to have opportunity to meet city manager finalists Monday
The city of Amarillo announced recently that its 12-person city manager search committee had narrowed the field to two final candidates for the vacant city manager position. Matthew Allen, city manager for Garden City, Kansas, and Grayson Path, city manager for Paris, Texas, were announced as the finalists from more than 77 applicants. Both city manager candidates are from cities that have about a tenth of the population of Amarillo.
