Local school holds annual ‘Amazing Shake’ event

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Schools across Ohio flocked to Dayton to compete in a challenge.

The annual Amazing Shake competition was held at Riverscape Career Tech High School in Dayton.

Students were judged on how well they use their soft skills. Conducting a handshake and diffusing uncomfortable situations are ways students participated in the unique event.

Organizers told 2 NEWS the competition prepares students for the workforce, while also giving them a chance to display and highlight the skills they’ve learned all year.

“We send our students out to the workforce, make sure they’re ready,” said Victoria Carter, principal at Riverscape Career Tech High School. “This is the way that we train them all year, for them to be able to see what they’ve learned throughout the year. Then, they come here and we celebrate them.”
