5/8 UPDATE: The City Council unanimously approved the prices for Garfield Pool admission. The rates will only be in effect for the 2024 season.

Danville Director of Public Works David Ruwe also said at the council meeting he estimates the pool will now open the first or second weekend of June due to delaying an inspection with the Illinois Department of Public Health after workers needed to fix an issue.

Ruwe said the city will announce an opening date after passing IDPH’s inspection.

“I don’t want to guarantee anything because surprises happen in construction projects, especially mechanical projects,” he said.

City leaders are also working on an increased security presence in the area to ensure the pool is a “safe and fun environment”.

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The Danville City council is set to approve the admission fees for Garfield Pool Tuesday at their meeting.

According to an agenda posted on the city’s website, the proposed rates for the pool include:

    • Daily Pass (Per Patron) $8.00
    • Punch Card for 10 Daily Passes (Per Patron) $70.00
    • Non-Profit Organizations (Per Patron) $4.00
Officials hope for May opening of Danville Aquatic Center, new rates

Additionally, the pool would be free for children under 3.

The meeting is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday. Garfield Pool is set to reopen this summer, after being closed since 2021.
