FCPD: Lorton man arrested for shooting at fellow rideshare passenger
Police arrested a Lorton man earlier this week in connection to a March 1 incident where he allegedly fired a gun at another rideshare passenger. According to the Fairfax County Police Department, officers responded to the 9200 block of Ashland Woods Lane in Lorton shortly after midnight for a call about a shooting.

With the 2023-2024 school year coming to a close, it’s essential to talk about the education crisis in Maryland and how to address it. The Blueprint for Maryland Schools was passed several years ago in Annapolis to address declining student achievement in science, math, and literacy skills. The Blueprint has created a massive unfunded mandate on state and county budgets. In the meantime, classroom teachers are working harder to teach an ever-changing curriculum and deal with behavioral problems from students with little support from administrators or parents. We appreciate our classroom teachers and know how hard they work and how much they care.
Washington D.C. and Surrounding Areas Brace for Tidal Flooding and Persistent Rain
Washingtonians are gearing up for a soggy week as the National Weather Service has issued a series of weather advisories, kicking off with a Coastal Flood Advisory that remained in effect early this Saturday morning. The advisory, which warned of up to half a foot of inundation in low-lying areas due to tidal flooding, covered parts of the District of Columbia, Arlington County, and the City of Alexandria. Residents located along the shoreline were expected to see the impacts of this tidal swell, particularly around Ohio Drive and the Hains Point Loop Road, near the Tidal Basin.
