ALLEGANY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — A Maryland State Police (MSP) aviation crew helped save a man who got into a car crash early Friday morning.

Just before 7 a.m., a man was involved in an accident. Police said his car rolled down an 80-foot embankment, trapping him. Based on the man’s injuries, the high-angle terrain and the time it would take to free him, an MSP helicopter crew was called in to help.

A trooper went down into the embankment from the helicopter to assess the man’s injuries. The man and MSP trooper were then lifted into the aircraft, which flew the man to a hospital in Cumberland, Md.
