CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WPRI) — Cumberland’s dive team conducted a series of drills Friday in preparation for the summer, when swimmers and kayakers will take advantage of the warm weather.

“We’re training the firefighters to rescue victims in moving water. Whether its a river, a stream or even during floods,” Aquatic Rescue Training’s Bob Shields said.

In the above video, 12 News Meteorologist Steven Matregrano learns more about the drills and why it’s important for divers to keep up with their training.
