$80M Boulevard Place set to rise in downtown OKC after years of delays
A tower crane is set to once again appear in the downtown Oklahoma City skyline as construction ramps up on the long-delayed $80 million Boulevard Place immediately east of the Omni Hotel. The seven-story, 262-unit Boulevard Place is the tallest downtown housing built from scratch since the 1966 opening of the 24-story Regency Tower at 333 NW 5th St. Boulevard Place is being built at the southeast corner of E.K. Gaylord Boulevard and Oklahoma City Boulevard and is at the gateway to the stadium district being built to the east. The owners of the Oklahoma City Thunder, meanwhile, have shown an interest in developing the current Paycom Center block that is north of Boulevard Place once Continental Coliseum is complete. All of that development provides little wiggle room for construction, said John Semtner, project engineer with Tradesman Architectural Studios. "This project is a very tight and difficult site," Semtner said. "To see this rise up out of the ground is a very exciting moment in construction."
